Case Studies: Making Your Project a Success

Solutions at Hand has implemented a number of successful projects, some of which are described below. We can make a positive impact on your business through the use of technology!

Robbies Confectionery

Robbies Confectionery

Over a number of years Verdant has developed a number of systems for Robbies Confectionery – improving efficiency and customer satisfaction across the board. All of the projects involved a high degree of integration with their current business system.

One of these projects was a sales ordering app used by Robbies’ sales staff. The app provides an always up-to-date list of available products, which can be added to sales orders which are then sent back to the main office through the app. Robbies’ sales staff find that this is an invaluable tool to facilitate accurate ordering and prompt delivery response times.

Another app developed for Robbies was an Android app to improve sales order and goods receipting picking accuracy using bar code scanning. The app is used on a mobile phone with a separate bar code scanner.

Solutions at Hand also developed an online website for Robbies to enable customers to place orders online. It also provides an always up-to-date product list and a shopping cart function.

Cripps Nubake

Cripps Nubake

Cripps Nubake is a bread baking company that is well established in Tasmania and has a large customer base. Cripps Nubake wanted to increase efficiency and accuracy of their delivery process. Solution at Hand developed an app to allow staff and contractors to enter delivery information and submit it to a centralised database. This information would then be periodically uploaded into Cripps Nubake’s existing business system. This process was previously done by hand. The app contained some other features such as the ability to create and view notes, provide packing information, and upload photos, among other things.

An administration website was also developed, where staff could view order information, notes and photos etc, track staff and contractor locations on a map, view time spent at delivery locations, and undertake administration functions such as managing users and importing/exporting data from their existing business system.

Blue Echidna

Blue Echidna

Blue Echidna is a commercial product that integrates with MYOB Exonet, an enterprise Business Management package. Based on the Picking System developed for Robbies Confectionery, it has been heavily modified and contains a number of new features. Some of these include modules for Stocktake, Works Orders, Job Costing and Delivery Sign Off. Blue Echidna also provides support for multiple bins per stock item, a feature that is not currently supported by Exonet. Solutions at Hand has partnered with companies that specialise in providing Exonet to businesses; Kilimanjaro Consulting, Enprise, Helm and Momentum, to provide this software solution to customers.

Blue Echidna consists of an Android app and a software package that integrates with MYOB Exonet. The Android app provides access to many Exonet functions on a mobile phone. This allows staff to enter data ‘on-the-go’, which prevents manual or double entry, e.g. stocktake totals entered by hand in the warehouse then entered into Exonet in the office.

Some of the benefits of Blue Echidna include increased accuracy, faster data entry and streamlined business processes.

Almost all Blue Echidna functions support barcode scanning to improve accuracy and reduce manual data entry.

Derwent Sailing Squadron

Derwent Sailing Squadron

Solutions at Hand has worked closely with the Derwent Sailing Squadron to improve their web presence and increase the flexibility of their main website.

The site implemented by Solutions at Hand is a heavily-customised WordPress site, allowing the DSS to edit, upload and manage their own content. Web development focused on providing a stable and extendable platform for the DSS to inform website visitors on the range of services offered by the DSS. Design focused on the simplicity of the sea, and some great quality photography.

Solutions at Hand also developed String of Pearls, a mooring booking system, for the Derwent Sailing Squadron (DSS).

String of Pearls offers a website that provides DSS members and visiting sailors with a full itinerary of destinations and sailing experiences across the cruising waters of the D’Entrecasteaux Channel, Norfolk Bay, Frederick Henry Bay, Bruny Island, Storm Bay, Port Arthur and the Derwent River.  Registered users are able to search for moorings and reserve them in advance. String of Pearls also provides information about nearby attractions that may be of interest.

String of Pearls is designed for mobile viewing, e.g. smart phone or tablet. However it also supports a great experience when viewing on desktop or laptop PCs. Because String of Pearls is a mobile website, it is accessible on phone Android and iPhone devices, as well as Windows and Mac PCs.
